The Text: Read Luke 10:38-42
Discuss:
Why do you think Martha was so upset?
Which of the two sisters do you most relate with? Why?
Why did Mary choose what was “better”?
Respond:
Mary had margin in her life. This margin gave her the ability to respond to God moments because she was not “distracted” and “worried” by many things.
Questions:
What are you currently distracted by or worried about?
Is money something that distracts you? Does money seem to be the root of many worries in your life?
How would having financial margin change your life?
What would you have to do or what have you already done to create this financial margin?
Why is it a bad idea to find financial margin by cutting your giving to God?
Prayer
Read Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
God help us to never serve money. Let us make the better choice and find margin in our life that will allow us to serve you! Give us grace where we fall short and help us to trust you fully with our finances.
