John 6:16-21

Sermon Response

JESUS WALKS ON WATER

Read John 6:16-21, Mark 6:45-51, Matthew 14:32-33

Jesus walks on water. These five verses contain one of the most profound demonstrations of Jesus’ divinity that one can find in the gospels. But you need to have a good understanding of the Old Testament and you need to read John’s account with some commentary from Matthew and Mark in order to see the whole picture.

Discuss:

  1. Why were the disciples terrified when they saw Jesus walking on the water?

  2. Why did Jesus intend to “Pass them by”? (Mark 6:48)

  3. When Jesus says “It is I” what is he really doing?

Respond:

  1. Have you ever “seen” Jesus in the storm? Describe your experience?

  2. When you see God in all His glory it changes you. How does your view and understanding of God effect your everyday life?

  1. In what ways has God best revealed Himself to you? ie. the Word, trials, power ect.

  2. How can you help others see God for who He is?

Prayer

God reveal yourself to me. Remind me that you are always in the storm with me and that you are GOD!
