The Text: Read John 12:20-29

Jesus teaches his disciples how to live a life that glorifies God. In this teaching Jesus also reveals the inner turmoil he feels about his impending crucifixion. From the text we see that the ultimate goal of every person’s life should be the glorification of God.

Discuss:

  1. Why do you think the Greek worshipers wanted to meet with Jesus?

  2. When Jesus says that God honors those men and women who serve Him, what does he mean?

3. What do we learn from God’s own words in verse 28?

Respond:

  1. Have you ever been able to see how a season of personal suffering actually glorified God? Explain.

  2. Do you see your job as a means to glorify God, why or why not?

  3. God will receive his glory regardless of your actions, the only question is whether or not you will be the one that is

responsible for giving him that glory. Are you a person who normally glorifies God with your life? Explain.

4. What do you need to do this week to better glorify God?

Prayer

God glorify yourself through me. May my life be lived in service to your Son and may you give me the grace necessary to bring glory to your name.
