Sermon Response

March 13, 2017

The Text: Matthew 6:5-13

During the Sermon on the Mount Jesus teaches on prayer. The teaching begins with a warning against prayer that is for your own glory and then Jesus gives us a model prayer often referred to as the Lord’s prayer.

Discuss:

  1. Why does God dislike prayers that are done in public?

  2. Why does God dislike prayers that have many words?

  3. What are the four movements of the Lord’s prayer?

Respond:

  1. When you pray do you speak more or listen more? Explain.

  2. If God already knows what you need before you ask, why do we still need to pray?

  3. Have you ever meditated? Describe the experience.

  4. What do you need to do this week to strengthen your prayer life?

Prayer

Spend an extended period of time in silent prayer. Listen more than you speak.
